Tooth-Colored Fillings

Cavities are one of the most common of all health problems and can occur even if you take excellent care of your teeth with regular dental appointments, proper hygiene, and a healthy diet. At the practice of Dr. Joe Arcadipane, we strive to offer the most cost-effective, conservative treatments so that you can enjoy a healthy, beautiful smile.

Today we have the option of using tooth-colored composite material for a filling that preserves your tooth and looks completely natural. Our fillings look so perfect that no one will be able to tell that you’ve had any work done.

Tooth-colored fillings are made of a composite material that consists of ceramic and plastic compounds. One advantage of using this material is that it can be easily color-matched to blend in with the shade of your natural teeth.

How Do I Know if I Have a Cavity?

When we take a digital x-ray during one of your regularly scheduled dental visits, we will be able to easily see even the smallest cavity. Unfortunately, a cavity can do a lot of damage before you even know decay is present, but by using digital x-rays, we can find cavities in their earliest stages. This is one reason we stress the importance of maintaining regular dental visits at our Eynon dental office.

If you get a cavity, we need to address the problem as quickly as possible to remove the decay and fill the tooth to prevent further damage. When a cavity is caught quickly, a filling is usually enough to restore your tooth to its healthy condition and stop decay from causing more serious problems in the future.

What Are the Advantages of Using Tooth-Colored Fillings?

We want to protect healthy tooth structure whenever possible because it's important to keep your teeth whole and healthy for as long as possible. Since tooth-colored composites form a secure bond with your natural dental enamel, we can perform a durable, conservative repair by removing only a small portion of your own tooth.

Dr. Joe has an eye for detail and can artistically shape your filling so that it blends perfectly with your own tooth. Using the same technique, we can also correct cosmetic imperfections with dental bonding. This is a cost-effective treatment that can be used to solve a number of problems:

  • Cracked or chipped teeth
  • Large or uneven gaps between teeth
  • Poorly proportioned teeth
  • Severely stained or discolored teeth

Early Treatment Is Essential

Everyone is busy, and if you get a toothache, you may be tempted to put off treatment because you’ll “get to it later.” We’ve all been there, but of course you know from experience that toothache pain doesn’t just go away. Putting off treatment gives decay a chance to do serious damage and almost always results in more costly and complex treatment.

We want to make sure we catch cavities as soon as possible, so please call us to schedule your next exam. If you have a toothache and need to see us right away, please contact us, and we will do our best to get you in for treatment as quickly as possible.
